Course Structure:
This course consists of three online learning modules that include instructional videos and progress questions. The learning modules are followed by a posttest and course evaluation. The Narrative: Trauma practice guide is also included with the course. A continuing education certificate is available for download after successful completion of the course.
Learning Objectives:
Define Narrative: Trauma and reasons why it is used to explore and correct unhelpful thoughts associated with past traumatic events.
Identify effective and ineffective uses of Narrative: Trauma to inform appropriate application of the practice with youths.
Summarize the theoretical rationale for Narrative: Trauma.
Explain Narrative: Trauma to various stakeholders (e.g., caregivers, teachers) to promote understanding of the practice.
Identify essential features of Narrative: Trauma and recommended methods to implement the practice effectively to promote coping and help a youth make meaning out of a traumatic event.
Conduct effective Narrative: Trauma across the three phases of the practice: tell the story, retell the story, and cognitive processing.
