Course Structure:
This course consists of three online learning modules that include instructional videos and progress questions. The learning modules are followed by a posttest and course evaluation. The Active Ignoring practice guide is also included with the course. A continuing education certificate is available for download after successful completion of the course.
Learning Objectives:
Define Active Ignoring and why it is useful in encouraging more appropriate youth behaviors while ignoring minor unwanted behaviors.
Identify effective and ineffective uses of Active Ignoring to assist caregivers with how to best apply this practice.
Summarize the theoretical rationale for Active Ignoring.
Explain Active Ignoring to various stakeholders (e.g., caregivers, teachers), including why, when, and how to use the practice to address youth behavior.
Identify the essential features of Active Ignoring in order to teach a caregiver how to implement the practice effectively.
Guide effective Active Ignoring to enhance caregiver effectiveness in discouraging minor unwanted behaviors and encouraging more appropriate behaviors.
