Personal Safety Skills (full course)

PracticeWise, LLC, is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. PracticeWise, LLC, maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

This course is designed to help you learn to recognize, understand, and apply the practice element Personal Safety Skills.

Course Structure:
This course consists of three online learning modules that include instructional videos and progress questions. The learning modules are followed by a posttest and course evaluation. The Personal Safety Skills practice guide is also included with the course. A continuing education certificate is available for download after successful completion of the course.

Learning Objectives:

1. Recognize Personal Safety Skills as an approach for increasing understanding of issues related to personal safety and building skills to help maintain personal safety.
2. Explain the theoretical rationale for Personal Safety Skills, specifically its grounding in ecological systems models.
3. Demonstrate the steps of guiding effective Personal Safety Skills, which include introducing the purpose, identifying safety concerns, discussing how to detect danger, identifying resources, establishing strategies, and practicing.
