The Fall 2016 updates to the
PracticeWise information resources are now available online.
Resource Updates
The PracticeWise Evidence Based
Services Database (PWEBS) now covers over 900 research papers. It was a busy
period in terms of treatment families with Strength of Evidence levels modified.
Here is the brief summary:
Anxiety
Several variants of Cognitive Behavior
Therapy have been tested and achieved new levels. For example, Cognitive
Behavior Therapy for Child and Parent achieved Best Support (Level 1), while Cognitive
Behavior Therapy with Parents Only, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Parent
Management Training achieved Good Support (Level 2).
Parent Management Training was introduced
as a treatment family and achieved Minimal Support (Level 4).
Behavioral Activation and Exposure was
introduced as a treatment family and achieved Minimal Support (Level 4).
Attention
Working Memory Training improved to Best
Support (Level 1).
Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Cognitive
Behavior Therapy with Parents have each achieved Good Support (Level 2).
Social Skills and Education was introduced
as a treatment family and achieved Good Support (Level 2).
To address greater differentiation in studies
of treatments combining medication with psychosocial interventions, the
treatment family assignments were restructured to include (a) Behavior Therapy
and Medication, (b) Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Medication, (c) Parent
Management Training and Medication, (d) Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Parent
Management Training and Medication which have each achieved Good Support (Level
2).
Depression
Attention Training was introduced as a
treatment family and achieved Good Support (Level 2).
Eating
Family Therapy with Parents Only was
introduced as a treatment family and achieved Good Support (Level 2).
Mania
Cognitive Behavioral Psychoeducation and
Dietary Care was introduced as a treatment family and achieved No Support
(Level 5).
Substance Use
Eclectic Therapy was introduced as a
treatment family and achieved Moderate Support (Level 3).
Mindfulness was introduced as a treatment
family and achieved No Support (Level 5).
Suicidality
Communication Skills was introduced as a
treatment family and achieved No Support (Level 5).
Traumatic Stress
Eye Movement Desensitization and
Reprocessing improved to Best Support (Level 1).
Relaxation and Expression was introduced
as a treatment family and achieved Minimal Support (Level 4).
The Practitioner Guides were
updated to include a new practice guide for Crisis Management. The worksheets
for each of the Process Guides are now provided as pdf files with fillable
forms.
We continue to expand our
collection of online courses and anticipate several more courses will be
released soon.
We encourage you to check in

and contributions.
Training Opportunities
We are currently working on
scheduling a MAP Direct Service series (5-day workshop plus 6 months of
consultation) and MAP Supervision and Consultation series (2-day workshop plus
6 months of consultation) in the Los Angeles, CA during early December.
